Here is a quick float you can print (i would recommend to use flexible filament).

Easy to use, just clip your tether cable on the bottom of the float using the two hoks

Put one every 2 meters, and try to print different colors, like this you can put a red one every 5 m , this way you know how much cable you have put in the water.
