Fingerprint scanners, iris scanners… Just make sure you wear gloves and very dark sunglasses when you rob a bank cause the government already has you in their database.
Iris scanner makes that much sense like 4k video recording in Note few years ago (still havent got a 4k screen) and the good old octacore processor in them laggy android phones few years ago aswell…
why wouldn't they just use both features?

apple is trying to get rid of the small iphone by making it have less features. its clear that they dont like producing two types of iphone.
Now that you ask I will for two major reasons. 1st the whole wet home button/finger scan issue. 2nd what if your wearing gloves and don't feel like taking them off.
Gimmick
good feature that has room to grow. several studies point out that iris scans are much more reliable since our finger prints get weaker as we age , people can have very similar finger prints and several other factors. And the iris has the same pattern from the day we are born to the day we die

I think the Iris scanner is a good feature. You can just use the fingerprint scanner anyway, and it provides extra security to the phone in case someone tries to break into it

The iris scanner will only get better in future iterations. Right now I'm not concerned about it.

I think the iris scanner will be a cool feature. Maybe not all people will use it but it's still cool. Samsung always added some features that aren't used by many people but at least they have them. The iris scanner is nearly the same feature as the face detector in old galaxy devices.
